Swiss gang-rape victim 'untraceable'

In a bid to make amends to the blemished status of India as a tourism destination, the government ordered a trial to provide justice to the victims of the Swiss gang-rape incident, which blotched the image of India and its hospitality in the minds of the foreign tourists. Yesterday, the victim of the gang-rape was supposed to turn up at a local court in Datia to record her statements. However, she didn't turn up at the court.

She reportedly is untraceable while her whereabouts are not even known to the Swiss embassy. This leaves the court to decide the further course of action in this incident. The doctor who examined the victim, Renu Jain, however recorded her statement of evidence in the incident yesterday at the court. A missing victim could only turn the story darker than it already is.

After two weeks of the gang-rape, Datia district court in Madhya Pradesh ordered that the trial would begin in two weeks. Six of them involved were arrested in the case, four for gang-rape of the 39 year old lady while two others were booked for robbery and assault of the woman and her husband.

The trial court has summoned the victim to record her statement in the court on April 15 failing which a judicial commission would be sent to Swiss mission.
