NCP strongman Ajit Pawer has made a comeback to the state cabinet as deputy Chief Minister. Just three months ago he had to resign for his alleged involvement in infamous irrigation scam. Opposition parties led by BJP and Shiv Sena condemned the move and stayed out of the oath taking ceremony.
Earlier there were reports that claimed irregularities amounting to a massive Rs 20,000 crore happened in irrigation projects in Maharashtra during his 1999-2009 tenure. The alleged scam came into public notice after a PIL was filed against him, making him resign. But later when 'The White Paper' on irrigation scam was presented, it gave a clean chit to the NCP leader.
