Janata Party Chief Subramanian Swamy has become the nightmare of Congress with his repeated and substantial attacks on the party. Soon after he had alleged a multi crore scam against Rahul and Sonia Gandhi, he went further attacking the Congress Party seeking its de-recognition after it has confessed to a debatable 90-crore loan to The Associated Journals Limited. Swamy tweeeted, "After the Congress confession of the loan crime (on Friday), I am filing a petition today before the ECI seeking de-recognition of Congress party."
Congress had stayed silent on the issue until Friday but it could hold no longer. On Friday it has blatantly refused all allegattions of Swamy and added that they had loaned National Herald News paper by lending interest free loans. They mentioned that there was no commercial aspect to the loan but it was only a matter of National Pride to revive the newspaper founded by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
The press release was made late in the night when the Congress General Secretary Janardan Dwivedi mentioned that the party has tried to revive the The Associated Journals Limited back into business while following all the rules of the land. "This support was extended by the Indian National Congress in the form of interest-free loans from which no commercial profit has accrued to INC," the statement mentioned.
They added that they chose to revive the National Herald and other news papers founded by Nehru in 1937 as a matter of National Pride as these newspapers had a key role in the freedom movement.
"The Indian National Congress has done its duty in supporting The Associated Journals to help initiate a process to bring the newspaper back to health in compliance with the laws of the land," Dwivedi concluded.
