Soon after the Aviation authorities of India have announced the suspension of the license, Kingfisher airlines mentioned that they would start paying the salaries in installments in a bid to regain their licenses. After the company reached a cul-de-sac 23 days ago, this was its first positive step towards mobilizing the organization again. However the employees who were on strike since long have not been pleased with the offers.
They said that KFA authorities have made verbal promises several times earlier too but have conveniently skipped their words and thus lost the confidence of the employees in them. Though the KFA mentioned that they would payback the salaries before Diwali, the protesters have been asking for a written assurance so the company cannot backtrack on their words this time.
It is to be noted that the protesters have been seeking the payment of pending salaries for at least four of seven months for them to resume working. "There has been no written communication from the management in this regard. We don't know about any such offer," a pilot said after the offer to clear two-three instalments of salary dues before Diwali in November.
"We cannot trust their words. They have gone back on their verbal promises earlier. We need a clear-cut written assurance," he added.
