Nine constructions, illegal and unauthorized, had to face the wrath of the PCMC as they initiated the demolition drive yesterday in Pimpri and Bopkhel.
In the drive were three four-storied buildings, near Nav Maharashtra College, which totally covered an area of 16,000 sq. ft in Pimprigaon.
The drive was headed by G B Dangat, executive engineer of PCMC after being aided by 20 police personnel.
Six buildings in Bopkhel were prey to the demolition cranes as the PCMC had not authorized the constructions. A four-storied building of 20,000 sq ft, a two-storied building of 6,000 sq ft, and four unauthorized others which had only the ground floor were brought down. R V Dudhekar, executive engineer, PCMC, led the drive with about a hundred police personnel.
