Demolition drive against unauthorized constructions

Nine constructions, illegal and unauthorized, had to face the wrath of the PCMC as they initiated the demolition drive yesterday in Pimpri and Bopkhel.

In the drive were three four-storied buildings, near Nav Maharashtra College, which totally covered an area of 16,000 sq. ft in Pimprigaon.

The drive was headed by G B Dangat, executive engineer of PCMC after being aided by 20 police personnel.

Six buildings in Bopkhel were prey to the demolition cranes as the PCMC had not authorized the constructions. A four-storied building of 20,000 sq ft, a two-storied building of 6,000 sq ft, and four unauthorized others which had only the ground floor were brought down. R V Dudhekar, executive engineer, PCMC, led the drive with about a hundred police personnel.
