Manmohan Singh speaks for Syria

Manmohan Singh, the Prime Minister of India, took a big step towards the eradication of International Terrorism and called for coordination of the global action against it. He  also condemned the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The Indian PM at the Non-Aligned Movement asked the members to take a stand on the issue of Syria while basing their decisions on "universally accepted principles".

He had also mentioned India's reluctance to "external intervention" on Syria in the two day NAM summit adressing the leaders and representatives of over 50 countries.  He had made the statements referring to the West Asia in general but Sryia specifically, after the civil war that has kindled between the President Bahsar al-Assad's troops and the Syrian rebels.

"The West Asian and North African region is undergoing profound change. As the world's largest democracy, India supports popular aspirations for a democratic and pluralistic order." he said. However he also added that such tranfromations are better achieved without the external intervention which could worsen the sufferings of the citizens in the nation.

He spoke of the situation in Syria that was degrading by the day.  "Our movement should take a stand on the issue in keeping with universally accepted principles," he said asking all the parties to  while urging all parties to recommit and resolve the emerged crisis peacefully by a political process leadered by Syria so that all the elgitimate aspiration of Syrian citizens are met.
