Pakistan militant groups could have been behind the Assam scare which saw mass exodus of the North East people leaving the place of livings back home. The event that created panic for the patriotic could have been masterminded by Pak groups, says a media sources. As per the source the a socio-political Pakistani group may have begun the process of doctoring images of earthquakes in Thailand and Tibet. And such morphed images could have been routed through the social networking sites.
The report also adds that such campaigns began as early as July 13 when the Assam state had witnessed a massive violence in which 70 people died and lakhs were displaced.
It may be noted that the MHA (Ministry Home Affairs) was getting to the roots of the rumour propaganda through bulk SMS. On the other hand the Government had banned bulk SMS for a fortnight. The reasons for the ban were, as the country celebrated its 66th Independence day on August 15, the North Eastern residents residing at various places fled home. Reports stated that they received SMS that there could be repercussions of the riots felt across. Fearing such fake bulk SMS propaganda, mass exodus of Assamese was noticed across the south mainly from Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, in the last four days.
