After the murderer of the female lawyer in Wadala, Central Mumbai had confessed about his crime that he killed her merely because she yelled at him, the media had no other evidence to think otherwise though skeptical of the reason. It was only later when the police had interrogated the accused Saajid Pathan, a watchman, to confess the crime.
Pallavi Purkayastha had managed to escape the apartment even after being stabbed by a knife. She had not cared for the profuse bleeding that had stained the walls and floor in the Himalayan Heights. She went out of her flat for help but sadly there was no answer from any of the doorbells that she rang.
The murderer had by then caught up with the escaped prey. Dragging her back to her flat which she rented, he slit her throat killing her to the shock of her live-in partner and boyfriend who had found her after returning home.
Saajid Pathan had observed Pallavi keenly, and was on the prowl to rape her. He had also stalked her since two weeks and on the night of Wednesday when he observed that his live-in boyfriend Avik Sengupta had gone out for the night, he had disconnected the power to her flat expecting a call for assistance. And as he predicted she had called. He had entered her flat along with the electrician who had restored the power and left within a few minutes at 1 am, midnight. Pathan has confessed that he yet again had interrupted the power supply as an excuse to go to her flat and attack her. After Pallavi's call, he reached her flat alone and tried to rape her. After she resisted, he had stabbed her.
Police would not have suspected the guard but for his absence for the interrogation and the work. He was seen at the train station earlier.
