UPA's supremo Sonia Gandhi is to host a lunch for all the MPs of the ruling party alliances and other parties supporting her today, just ahead of the vice-presidential elections that would be held tomorrow.

This is not the first time she had invited the alliances for a lunch before the elections. She had also organized a meeting on 18th July before the presidential elections.

United Progressive Alliance (UPA) nominee and incumbent Hamid Ansari is ahead of his rival and NDA-backed Jaswant Singh. However, this lunch would only add to the  the lunch would add to the geniality between the alliance and the supporting parties in the monsoon month session beginning on August 8th.

Nationalist Congress Party, DMK, Trinamool Congress, Rashtriya Lok Dal and the National Conference, who are part of UPA, leaders of parties like the Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal and the Lok Janshakti Party apart from the MPs from congress are expected to be present at the luxurious lunch.

Sources already claim that Hamid Ansari has the support of around 500 votes which is approximately 2/3 of the total votes in the Electoral College that was formed for the elections. The UPA nominee has also gained the support of the Left parties.
