Keshubhai Patel resigns from BJP

Gujarat's ex- chief minister had announced his resignation from the BJP today after flinging broadsides against his fellow member Narendra Modi, the current Chief Minister of Gujrat. Kanshiram Rana, a former Union Minister had also joined him in the list of resigned members just a few months before the assembly elections in Gujrat.

Mr. Patel had been the center of the subject  when he announced not to renew his party membership. Ever since that incident his attitude towards the chief minister was not a pleasant one. He often criticized Modi publicly calling him an autocratic and a person who couldn't face dissent. He also mentioned in his blog that India was worse during his reign than during the Emergency days.

Mr Patel was replaced by Mr Modi as Chief Minister in 2001.

He has joined the like of party member Suresh Mehta after complaining to the party's central leaders in Delhi of the growing gap within the party over Mr Modi.

The central leaders of the party had not worried too much with the resignation of Mr Patel. The party leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy had said that “He can do whatever he wants to”.
