TV editor-in-chief receives life threats after airing a show on TV

Rajat Sharma, India TV editor in chief, had talked to the Delhi Police after he was threatened by numerous phone calls and messages from people he didn't know. He lodged a complaint stating that the  threats started after a program that criticized and questioned the claims of an individual, who proclaimed himself as a godman. Sharma also told the police that he has received messages and calls from over 35 mobile numbers.

A senior police official said that India TV had filed a complaint on June 26th with the police blaming unknown people and it was updated to a complaint under the Section 66A of the Information Technology act only 2 days ago.

The TC channel had telecasted a programme on the 22nd June alleging that a self-proclaimed godman and his deeds were fraud. The godman was also at the show to defend his position. It was after this telecast that Rajat Sharma of India TV received several abusive calls and messages from many numbers while the people identified themselves as the godman's devotees.
