Sunday, a day you would usually spend dallying time at home merely resting or energetically hit the clubs and restaurants to spend time together with friends and family, was somewhat different in Mumbai this week. The city had been magically summoned to the Times Su-Doku Championship where people from 3 different generations participated from grandsons to grandfathers.
4000 people had signed up for this event at the B N Vaidya Sabhagraha in Dadar, which was buzzing with activity on Sunday. People came armed with writing pads and many other stationeries to win the battle against numbers.
A particular family, the Vanamalis, have all attended the competition. Abhishek, the father of the family has said, “I usually am not as engrossed in the game as much as my dad and son but today seeing them, I decided to join the fun activity”. A few participants were completely lost in the game that they seemed to forget what the world outside was.
The winners of the final rounds has concluded with 4 youngsters winning the games from the Mumbai. These four would compete with the winners from Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore on July 22. Four of the best sudoku players would be taken to play the World Sudoku Champioinship in Croatia. Rohan Rao (21), Gaurav Korde (26), Dr Omkar Hendre (25) and Himanshu Mittal (23) have admitted that the competition was not easy and also that many strong candidates had been eliminated by the final rounds.
