Taskforce to be setup by Mamatha to check price hikes

Chief Minister Mamatha Banerjee has decided to set up a task force comprising 11 members to put a check to the rise in the prices. She has also revealed that there would be 5 members from the government authorities and 5 members would be traders among the 11 members of the taskforce.This taskforce would be headed by the Agriculture Secratary Subrata Biswas.

Mamatha has also made efforts to regulate the prices of vegetables which are not covered under the Essential Commodities Act and the Anti-Profiteering Act. Honorable Chief Minister has also declined an all party meeting to discuss the  issue of rise in the prices. The price would be regulated after intense dicussions regarding the trends and price by the agricultural, horticultural, marketing departments, enforcement directorate and the Kolkata Police.

The CM said “Task Force would actively participate in the reconnaisance of the market in the morning, and would figure the middlemen responsible for the rise in prices by conducting raids”. After the last year's taskforce, which couldnt work effectively for a long duration, Mamatha is determined to prevent the same from repeating this year.
