The kin and kith of prisoner Sarabjit Singh staged a protest at Jantar Mantar in Delhi demanding the release of Sarabjit Singh from a prison in Pakistan. Addressing the media, Sarabjit's mother said she's going to meet all bigwigs in Delhi for pressing her demand to release Sarabjit Singh. It may be noted that Sarabjit Singh was arrested and convicted in Pakistan on spying charges.

Pakistan government on Wednesday stirred up a controversy by stating that it would be releasing Sarabjit Singh instead of announcing Surjit Singh's release. Later, the government officials rectified the mistake and said Surjit Singh would be released. Accordingly, Sujit Singh was released this morning and was escorted to border to handover him to Indian authorities.
