The chariots of Lord Jagannath, Bala Rama and their sister Subhadra, which left for their aunty's temple in Gundicha from Jagannath Temple on June 22 have reached the destination. It is known that Jagannath's temple in Puri is one of the four major temples that the follower of Adavita philosophy should visit to attain salvation, according to Hindu saint Shankaracharya.
The three chariots were pulled by lakhs of devotees on June 21 and 22. The deities will remain at Gundicha temple for a couple of days before they are brought back to Lord Jagannath temple on the same chariots. This is an annual nine day festival and the festival ends when the deities return Jagannath Temple.
In the wake of possible terror attacks, tight security has been beefed up all along the way. The sources said that devotees continue to visit in large number in the next couple of days.
