Wikileaks founder seeks asylum in London

Wikileaks founder and web activist, Julian Assange can face arrest as he allegedly breached one of the bail conditions, according to London police.  It is known that Assange applied for political asylum in London. Assange earlier gave a statement that he arrived at Ecuadorean embassy and sought diplomatic sanctuary. It may be noted that Assange cited UN declaration of human rights for his political asylum when he walked into country's embassy in Knightsbridge.

This application came within a week the Supreme Court turned down his appeal against extradition to Sweden since Assange is wanted in Sweden for questioning in allegations of rape on one woman and assault on another woman in August 2010. Assange has, however, denied the allegations. Meanwhile, the supporters of Assange said in case Assange is deported to Sweden, he is most likely to be extradited to the United States on espionage charges.

It may be recalled that US government had set up a grand jury investigation over secret embassy cables that were passed to Wikileaks in May 2011. The inquiry is going on although there's no request for extradition.
