Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will present the Union budget for the financial year 2012-13 in the Lok Sabha on March 16.
President Pratibha Patil will open the budget session by addressing a joint session of both houses of Parliament on March 12 and the Railway Budget will be presented on March 14. The next day, the Economic Survey will be tabled in the Parliament.
Disclosing this to newspersons in Delhi today, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal said the budget session will close on March 30. “The second part of the budget session will begin on April 24 and last up to May 22,” he said.
He said the budget has been delayed due to the ongoing assembly elections in five states. “The model code of conduct will be in force till March 9,” he said giving the reasons for the delay. (JUBS)
