Congress Party chief Sonia Gandhi’s daughter Priyanka Vadra Gandhi said today she has not made up her mind on taking up campaigning on behalf the party in the UP elections but she was open to the idea.

“I have not taken any decision as yet but I am ready to do whatever my brother Rahul Gandhi wants me to do for the party,” Priyanka told journalists in Amethi, adding she would talk to Rahul before taking a decision.

Priyanka Gandhi, 40, was on a tour of Rai Bareli parliamentary constituency represented by her mother Sonia in the Lok Sabha. Priyanka was always limited to Amethi and Rai Bareli constituencies during the elections from where her brother and mother were elected to the Lok Sabha respectively.

There is however speculation this time that Priyanka may take up campaigning across the state on behalf of the party.

Asked whether she would join active politics in the near future, she avoided a direct reply but said she would go by the advice of her brother. Again asked what she would do if her brother asked her to join active politics, she said Rahul knew best how to utilize her services.

Priyanka was in Rai Bareli to meet party workers and local MLAs for finalizing the party candidates from her mother’s parliamentary constituency for the assembly poll. (JUBS)
