Panditji the architect of modern India is the doyen of the leaders next to none other than the great Gandhiji. Admired even by his critics, he was a man of principles hence was more of a leader than a politician. But to this day the thought of a person with similar traits and selfless service to the nation is a dream yet to see light. Oh Sir on this day we bow to you and seek your blessings that atleast in the near future we shall come across another genuine leader to take on the reigns to prosperity and fulfill your half sung anthem.
Children’s day is celebrated worldwide but the date varies, around the world. The day is celebrated on the November 20, but in India it is celebrated on November 14, marking the birth anniversary of our beloved Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. A day dedicated to children, is observed as an event to celebrate childhood and promote awareness about children's welfare. Endorsed by global organizations and government, this celebration aims to promote the wellbeing of children and to uplift their social rights.
His great love for roses and children are well-known. He often compared the two, saying that children were like buds in a garden to be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future. He was ‘beloved’ of children who called him Chacha Nehru (Chacha means uncle). Children’s day is a national holiday, it is celebrated in schools and colleges with functions catering to children. Nehru always used to wear a Gandhi cap and sport a rose on his jacket. A story says that it was after a child pinned a rose bud on his coat.
Amidst all this pomp and celebrations, we should not lose sight of Chacha Nehru’s real message: providing children with a safe and nurturing environment in which to flourish and develop to contribute to nation building. This day we renew our commitment to the welfare of children and teach them to live by Chacha Nehru’s example. He was a perfect amalgam of eastern philosophical values and western scientific thinking, and encouraged technological progress.
As a part of the ongoing celebrations Google India, the most sought after search engine, put up doodle designed by Varsha Gupta, a Class III student from Ryan International School, Greater Noida, with all musical instruments. When questioned about the design, the tiny tot responded, which we have forgotten amidst our hectic schedules, in the corporate competition. Hope atleast today we realize that our strength lies only in our diversity and if we capitalize this issue we shall move forward as a nation.
She wrote, `India is a land of different cultures. In India, music plays a very important role. India has given many musical instruments to the world. Goddess Saraswati plays Veena, God Shiv plays Damaru. According to our mythological stories musical instruments used to be played on all the occasions. Even during war musical instruments were played. Lord Krishna's flute is known in the whole world for its magical music. In modern days Mr. Zakir Hussain is world famous as Tabla Mastro and Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma is known as a great Santoor player all over the world’.
Jawaharlal Nehru, also known as Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, was one of the foremost leaders of Indian freedom struggle. He was born on November 14, 1889. After his abroad education returned to India in 1912 and started legal practice. Nehru was instantly attracted to Gandhi's commitment for active but peaceful, civil disobedience. Gandhi himself saw promise and India's future in the young Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru family changed its family according to Mahatma Gandhi's teachings. In 1947, he became the first Prime Minister of independent India. He effectively coped with the formidable challenges of those times: the disorders and mass exodus of minorities across the new border with Pakistan, the integration of 500-odd princely states into the Indian Union, the framing of a new constitution, and the establishment of the political and administrative infrastructure for a parliamentary democracy. Jawaharlal Nehru died of a heart attack on May 27, 1964. Jawaharlal Nehru is widely regarded as the architect of modern India. He was the favorite disciple of Mahatma Gandhi and later on went on to become the first Prime Minister of India.
