An event when public take law in to their hands and serve severe punishment based on just suspicion had emerged in Ranchi on Monday. In the process a man was beaten to death by a group of persons, who suspected him of murdering three women who were his wives.

According to police, Montu Tirkey, a resident of Tangratoli of Ranchi, was beaten to death by a mob that also included women. The people suspected him of being responsible for the deaths of his three wives. `Some men and women killed Tirkey by beating him up severely. We are investigating the case,’ Kamal Kishore, officer in charge of Sukhdeonagar police station of Ranchi, told reporters. Police have sent the body for post-mortem.
