Even after centre making strict legislation for ensuring that no student is subjected to humiliation at schools in the pretext of discipline and punishment, the incidents of teachers hitting students in a fit of rage are continuing to hit headlines, unfortunately. In a recent incident, a ten-year-old girl was allegedly thrashed by her teacher for not completing the home work assigned to her.
The victim was a student of third standard at Holenarsipura school in Mysore. The parents of the victim alleged that the teacher purportedly pushed her down, which resulted in brain damage. She was said to have lost her memory and was rushed to NIMHANS hospital in Bengaluru.
The horrifying incident took place last month and the teacher was eventually suspended. Will these suspensions bring back the damage done to the little girl? The schools should now at least ensure that no teacher takes out her frustration on students in the pretext of discipline.
