A latest India Today -Nielsen Survey has established that the UPA’s share of votes would come down by 6.7 per cent in comparison with 2009 elections to fetch it a maximum of 187 to 197 seats while the BJP led NDA would get 175-to 185 seats in the scenario of immediate elections to the Lok Sabha. The survey says that others would get 167 to 177 seats.

The survey has projected an increase of votes to NDA by 1.3 per cent and to others by 5.4 per cent but asserts the UPA would still be ahead of the NDA and others with majority seats.

Another survey, conducted by the CSDS for the CNN-IBN-CNBC-TV18 and for the Forbes India in the name of the State of the Nation Poll, also projects 38 percent of votes for the UPA and 26 per cent of votes for the NDA.

The survey says that Prime Minister Dr Manmohan’s own credibility has taken a nosedive because of the continuous exposure of the various scams but its share of votes has not come down.

The survey says that the Congress has just begun to cultivate a youth constituency while the NDA has been trying to woo the peasant OBCs.
