A day after successfully cracking the Mid-Day journalist Jyothirmay Dey’s murder mystery, police said Tuesday evening that gangster Chota Rajan ordered the killing as he suspected Dey to be passing on information about him to the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s man Iqbal Mirchi.

 

Police said Rajan suspected Dey met Iqbal in London during his trip to England and passed on information about him.
Police however said that Dey did not meet the Dawood aide in London during his 10-day trip to Europe but Don Chota Rajan firmly believed the journalist met him and passed on information.

 

Police also said that the 10-day Europe trip of the journalist remained a mystery since he left his mobile phone at his house switched on intentionally.

 

According to police, Dey, who first refused to go on a trip to Philippines, later agreed to visit it after a telephonic conversation with Rajan. Rajan agreed to meet him for an interview in Philippines.

 

Later, somebody told Rajan that the interview proposed by Dey was only a ploy hatched by Dawood man Shakeel to eliminate him. After this, Rajan called up the hit man Kalia and ordered to kill the journalist.

 

“You have to eliminate a traitor, who is working for Dawood”, Rajan reportedly told Kalia and ordered him to eliminate the journalist Dey.
