Moderate quake hits Kashmir Valley

kashmirvellyAn earthquake, with a moderate intensity of 4.9 on Richter scale, rocked the Kashmir Valley in the wee hours of Saturday. There were no immediate reports of loss of property or life due to the quake.  

The epicenter of the quake was found to be at Hindukush mountain range in Afghanistan, according to officials. The entire Kashmir state lies in the highly earthquake-prone Seismic Zone V.

It might be recalled that a powerful earthquake of 7.4 magnitude rocked the valley on October 8, 2005 killing 1300 persons dead and thousands homeless.
