Govt to reveal names of black money holders

The Centre today assured the highest court of the country that it would reveal the names of the individuals who stashed away black money in foreign banks after registering cases Names of black money holders, black money against them.

Solicitor General Gopal Subramanium told the Bench headed by Justice B.Sudershan Reddy that the Centre sent notices to the individuals accused of having black money and would reveal their names after formally registering complaints against them.

The government’s response followed the notices issued by the Supreme Court on a petition filed by veteran lawyer Ram Jethmalani and some former bureaucrats who requested it to direct the government to take steps to bring the black money totaling to $ 1 trillion back into the country.
The Bench also directed the government to take effective steps to ensure that the Pune based business man Hasan Ali Khan, accused of stashing away black money in foreign banks does not leave the country. “You must ensure that he will face prosecution” the court told him.

After the assurance of the Solicitor general, the court said the matter has been postponed to March 3 for further hearing.
