An American school teacher, who took a vow on September 11, 2001that he would not shave his beard till Osama bin Laden was caught or killed, kept his vow till Sunday morning.
The bushy growth of Gary Weddle of East Wenatchee who teaches in Ephrata, made him look like a little bit of Osama Bin Laden after he continued to grow it since the 9/11 attacks on the world trade centre in New York.
“When I took the vow, I thought he would be caught in just one or two months but it took years for America to get him killed,” he said.
He heard the news of Laden’s killing Sunday evening when he was working in his garden. He immediately shaved off his beard before President Obama addressed the nation. Friends and neighbors watched him cut the beard.
Weddle was 41 when he made his vow and now he is 51. “My husband now looks 10 years younger after he removed his beard,” said his wife appreciating his husband who shaved for the first time in 3,454 days.
