The Supreme Court today issued notices to the anti-corruption activist and Gandhian Mr Anna Hazare, Maharashtra Government and the Centre on a PIL filed by Delhi based lawyer Mr Manohar Lal Sharma.
The petitioner sought CBI probe into the allegations of reported siphoning and misuse of funds allotted to the Hind Swaraj Trust run by Hazare.
A division bench of the court consisting of Justices Aftab Alam and Ranjana Desai issued notices asking them as to why action can’t be taken on the petition.
The lawyer alleged in his petition that the state and central governments took no action till date despite the Sawant Commission report in 2005 indicted Anna Hazare, respondent number 4 in the petition, and charged him with criminal breach of trust for siphoning of funds of the Hind Swaraj Trust.
“It is a clear case of fraud in which Hazare connived with his associates, groups, politician friends and misused the Trust funds,” the petitioner alleged.
