Students narrow on communal lines, protest after clash

StudentNarrowStudents are getting into unwanted controversies and reading too much between the lines. In a fresh incident at the Jawaharlal Nehru University on Monday, a group of student activists held a protest at the campus, in Delhi against a recent clash that occurred between two groups over a pamphlet that was found 'hurtful' by a section. The students from All India Backward Forum (AIBSF), All India Students Association (AISA), Students Federation of India (SFI), among others attend the protest.

Members of All India Students Backward Forum (AISBF) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) got indulged in a fight on Saturday night on the issue of an allegedly anti-religious pamphlet circulating in the campus. ABVP members claimed that their religious sentiments were hurt by the content published in the pamphlet. Members of both the groups received injuries in the incident. Both the groups have lodged a complaint with the police in this regard. On Sunday, AIBSF wrote a letter to the Proctor, Prof HB Bohidar, demanding an action against ABVP members.

It was based on the article written by writer Prem Kumar Mani, which mentioned that Mahishasur, the beast who was killed by Goddess Durga, belonged to a lower cast and therefore, people from backward classes should not worship Goddess Durga.
