Get ready for color changing clothes

Going a step further, the future of fashion may be clothes that can change color on demand. Scientists arrived at this idea by observing tropical butterflies. These beautiful species have tiny crystal-like structures in their wings, giving rise to the illusion of bright colors.

Butterflies have layered wings with small differences between them. Hong Kong researchers are trying to apply this principle to creating clothes, which are 'tuned' to changes. Varied color patterns can be seen, just like those observed on the Papilio Ulysses butterfly. The butterfly is found in Australia and has the property of iridescence. This property enables a change in color depending on the viewing angle.

The Emerald Swallowtail butterfly has a thick green color, true to its name. But it can be seen as blue, when seen from another angle. This concept can be applied to clothes as well. Designer materials may be able to change color or seen differently in different lights and angles. Color changing clothes will be a practical addition to someone who works hard in the morning and parties harder at night.
