5 foods that stain your teeth

Bright smile gives more attraction to your face. But this can be achieved only if your teeth are white and stain free. There are certain foods that stains and damages your teeth, avoid them to have a brighter smile.

Wine: Red wine is an acidic beverage that contains chromogens and tannins which are responsible for staining teeth. Even the white wine, which is clear in colour contains an acid that allows staining from other foods and drink to penetrate more deeply.

Berries: Berries such as blueberries, blackberries, cherries and other brightly coloured fruits can stain teeth. Usually choose the fruits that don’t stain your hands when handling them.

Tea and coffee: Tea has many great health benefits, but black teas and other dark-hued teas can cause teeth staining. Try adding some milk into these dark teas or sticking to green, white, or herbal teas. Coffee stains appear to be even more persistent than tobacco stains, in fact coffee-stained teeth are more resistant to tooth brushing and more likely to become discoloured again.

Soy Sauce: The pigment in soy sauce adheres to your teeth causing stains. If you’re eating sushi and soy sauce, drink some green tea or water in between bites.

Hard-boiled sweets and candy: There is no escaping it. Those hard-coated sweets and candy that turn your tongue bright colours, will have the same effect on your teeth too. Eat these candies in moderation to avoid permanent teeth staining.
