Tips to Prevent Excessive Skin Drying:- Winters make the skin dry because of the cold. Dry skin, eczemas, rashes and allergies are very common during the season. Patients of diabetes and thyroid face issues during the winter season. Dr Sneha Ghunawat, Consultant Dermatologist, Cosmetologist, Director and Co-Founder of Meraki Skin Clinic in Gurugram explained about the tips to prevent the excessive skin drying:
Cleansers: Always use mild soap-free cleansers for the skin. Face washes will make the skin harsh. These chemicals can dry out the skin in winters. Hence it is suggested to use mild soap-free cleansers and there are plenty available in the market.
Moisturization: Thick moisturizers of good quality should be used to battle dryness during the winters. Prefer creams rather than lotions. Oils are a good choice as they work as good emollients. Coconut oil, avocado oil and sesame seed oil can be used. After taking shower, apply a layer of moisturizer when the skin is wet.
Hot Water Showers should be avoided. The hot water always dissolves the layer of oil and keeps the skin rough and dry. To prevent cracking and chapping, use moisturizer and lip balms.
Exposure to natural sunlight will be less during winters. Hence take the supplements of Vitamin D which would do wonders for your skin.
