Former army officer kills family and suicides in US

In a shocking incident, a former Indian army officer allegedly killed his wife and two children over unknown reasons in California. He later called up the police that he had murdered four persons. By the time police rushed to the spot, 47-year-old Avatar Singh was found dead. According to the police, Avatar shot himself to death after he called up the police.

Notably, Avatar Singh is wanted by the Indian Government in connection with a murder of a lawyer in Jammu and Kashmir way back in 1996. He fled to the United States where he had been staying since then.

Avatar Singh was arrested in February 2011 when his wife complained to the police that her husband tried to choke her and assaulted her. It was then that the United States came to know that Singh was wanted in India. They intimated India and the government here asked US to arrest and extradite Avatar Singh. Despite the request Singh was set free and the reasons behind the same are yet to be ascertained.

The sources said that Avatar Singh was running private truck services and the driver there Alli Adan said Singh was a nice person.
