Indian Government Removes Restrictions On Domestic Aviation Capacity:- The Indian government lifted the restrictions on the capacity on the domestic flights from October 18th. The domestic flights capacity is capped at 85 percent currently. Since August 12th last year, the carriers have been operating 72.5 percent of the flights as per the instructions from the Union Civil Aviation Ministry. The cap was 65 percent between July 5th and August 12th this year and the cap was 50 percent before that. The Union Civil Aviation Ministry asked the carriers to operate with 33 percent capacity last year from May 25th. The cap was gradually increased and with the coronavirus cases coming down, the government of India lifted all the restrictions.

From October 18th, the domestic carriers can operate flights with 100 percent capacity. The coronavirus cases in the country came down and India reported 14,313 new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours. The current cap will go up from 85 percent to 100 percent. With the decline in the new cases of coronavirus and the tourism across the country reopening and considering the upcoming Dasara and Diwali holiday seasons, the domestic carriers have been asked to restore the operations on a complete note. The Ministry of Civil Aviation announced the same officially today.
