India's top order is still searching to score big runs in New Zealand tour. After disappointing ODI series, the first Test between India and New Zealand also saw the top order failing to give start to the visitors. New Zealand which ended the first day at 329/4 were bowled out for 503 runs. Captain McCullum scored double century and Ishant Sharma picked six wickets.
Batting in the first Innings, Shikhar Dhawan was out with troubling the score board. Pujara and Kohli followed the pavilion within first 10 overs and India were in much of rescue. Another opener Murali Vijay and Rohit Sharma played watchfully but Vijay was dismissed just when he was looking to score more runs. But after that Rohit and Ajinkya Rahane made sure no further loss in wickets and sticked to the crease at the end of the day two. Rohit completed his fifty and remained unbeaten at 67.
