The first Test match between India and South Africa ended in a thrilling way. The host missed the chance of winning a history match but credits should be given to Indian bowlers who held their nerve till the last over. South Africa started the day 5 with the overnight score and Shami stroked early by removing Petersen. Kallis and Plessis built a half century stand but Kallis went for a wrong decision of umpire for an LBW. South Africa were on back foot then but the game changed with the arrival of vice captain AB de Villiers. Plessis along with de Villier posted a double century partnership and also scored tons respectively.
Ishant Sharma removed de Villiers at the right time and Plessis was run out by Rahane which turned the tables of the match. The Proteas again started defending as no specialist batsman was available and finally the game ended as draw. South Africa were 8 runs short of a world record chase.
Virat Kohli was rewarded with Man of the Match award for this contribution in both the innings.
Score details: South Africa 2nd Innings: 450/7, Plessis 134, de Villiers 103, Shami 3/107, Ishant 1/91
