South Africa engineered a dramatic batting collapse of India at the VCA stadium in Nagpur today after being asked to bowl in their crucial World Cup Group B encounter.
After openers Virender Shehawag and Sachin Tendulkar were out for 73 and 111 respectively through their hard hitting stroke display, only Gautham Gambhir picked up the thread by adding 69 runs.
Little master Tendulkar hit his second century out of 101 balls and his first century of the tournament was against England in the thrilling tied match in Bangalore.
Among the rest of the India squad, Yuva Raj Singh and captain Dhoni added 12 runs each to the total before being asked to move back to the pavilion. Yusaf Patan, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel and Ashish Nehra contributed no runs. The other two players Virat Kohli and Harbhajan Singh contributed only 1 and 3 runs respectively ending the Indian total to below 300 at 296.
