England batsman Kevin Pietersen is ruled out of the rest of the side's World Cup campaign because of a recurring hernia problem. Former Ireland Batsman Eoin Morgan is set to replace the injured Kevin Pietersen.
Braving the injury, the South African-origin Kevin Pietersen delayed undergoing operation on his hernia until after the tournament. He picked up the injury at the end of the Ashes series in England earlier this year.
The injury returned to haunt him in the field during England's six-run win over South Africa on Sunday.
Kevin Pietersen, in his new role as an opener, scored 39 against the Netherlands, 31 against India and 59 in the side's defeat to Ireland, before making just two runs in Sunday's Group B win in Chennai, though he did manage to bowl eight overs.
Pietersen is the 14th player to be replaced at the World Cup.
Pietersen's pull out from the midway of the tournament has derailed the plans of England team at a time when it aspires for a berth in the quarter final.
England is scheduled to play its next World Cup league match against Bangladesh on March 11th at Chittagong.
