What could have been a joke over the past few decades has been proven to be true recently. Women have smaller brains. But that is not necessarily a bad think, even in terms of intelligence. Scientists say that smaller female brains are capable of more efficient communication in the neurons and hence they are either on par with the men's intelligence or above it. They can use less energy and fewer cells to process information.

While it is true that the men have more grey matter than the women and the latter have an overall size of brain which is 8% smaller than men on average; it may not reflect in their IQ. Men use more neurons to understand and reason a problem. Women on the other hand will think faster with fewer numbers packed in a short space and hence compensate for the lack of the size.

The Hippocampal region of the brain which helps the humans in memory and emotions was tested. In males it was found that the bigger this part, the better they were intelligence wise. Coming to females, the size didn't matter. There were few whose hippocampus was small yet more efficient than the bigger female counterparts.

The results also showed that women were better at inductive reasoning and tracking a changing situation, while the men showed greater prowess at spatial reasoning.
