How many of you wouldn't bother a person behind your shoulders reading all your emails all the time? I can guarantee you; none. The point is not about secrecy but honoring a persons privacy which is a fundamental right of every person. Gmail pays no attention to your rights, claims Microsoft. On its website scroogled.com it explains that Google pries into all of your mails for the right advertisements to be displayed beside the content of your mail for its personal profits.
Microsoft is asking the users to shift from Google's mail service, Gmail, to Outlook.com, Microsoft's own email service but that is not the primary intention of Microsoft which doesn't read the content of your emails. It is asking users to sign a petition against Google for compromising the privacy of a person for the sake or relevant ads. The site emphasized that Google should learn its lesson that “going through personal email messages to sell ads is unacceptable." Since users are forced to accept the terms of agreement, Google is saving itself from at least six lawsuits for breaching the privacy of a person.
The breach is a concern for Microsoft too since mails sent to Gmail via Outlook are also read by Google. Over 70% of the people in the US are unaware that this is happening and more than 88% of these people said that such a practice was unacceptable to them.
“We honour the privacy of our Outlook.com users, and we are concerned that Google violates that privacy every time an Outlook.com user exchanges messages with someone on Gmail. This campaign is as much about protecting Outlook.com users from Gmail as it is about making sure Gmail users know what Google's doing”, Microsoft said.
Will you shift to Outlook or you have no problem with Google over Shoulders (GOS)?
