The man who took a giant leap for mankind by putting his foot on the Moon is no more. Neil Armstrong, the mission commander of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon was ailing from a heart ailment. The astronaut who was 82 years of age just recently celebrated his birthday, just prior to his heart surgery y on August 07. The 1969 moon explorer was the first legend who traversed in the terrestrial barriers and set his foot on the moon, a dream come true for mankind. As per stats 'nearly 600 million watched the fuzzy black-and-white TV images as Armstrong placed a foot on the Moon on July 21, 1969.' it was a remarkable achievement in technology and space in particular.
His family released a statement that described him as a"reluctant American hero who always believed he was just doing his job". President Obama sent his condolence message and sad that he was saddened over the sudden death of Armstrong, who was their national hero. The astronaut was also pioneer in his day-to-day life with a duty bound out look. He also served the United States of America as a Navy Fighter pilot, apart from being an astronaut.
Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin, 82, the co traveler on Apollo mission which had twelve members altogether set his foot on the moon just after Armstrong.
