Neil Armstrong to be buried at the sea

Neil Armstrong who had recently succumbed to the complications of a cardiovascular surgery would be buried at the sea, a family spokesperson told the media on Thursday.

The man who was the first to walk on the moon would most likely have a private service, Rick Miller said. He also mentioned that he had no further intimation on the details.

The burial will take place after a September 13 public memorial in the US capital.


NASA chief Charles Bolden, present and former astronauts and other dignitaries are expected to attend the ceremony at the Washington National Cathedral.

Neil Armstrong who had breathed his last on August 25 was 82 when he died.

He flew for the US Navy before he joined the space program of NASA. He shall always be remembered with the quote "one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind."
