Users to benefit as competitors enhance features to lure more loyalists. This is the USP of business and seems to be catching up hot in the search engine segment too. On May 15 the Microsoft changed the interface of its search engine `Bing’. This was the major move from the tech company ever since the engine became operational, three years ago. The search results are integrated information from all social networking sites like the Facebook and the Twitter. “With sidebar, Bing brings together the best of the web, with what experts and your friends know, giving you the confidence to act,” said Derrick Connell, Microsoft vice president in charge of Bing. “This new way to search lets you share, discover, and interact with friends like you do in real life.”
On Thursday not to be left behind Google launched its `Knowledge Graph’. The new tool will go beyond relevant keyword searches and give relevant information on the items also. With Knowledge Graph, Google can help you narrow your search results to distinguish between words with different meanings (e.g., Taj Mahal the monument vs. Taj Mahal the musician). Along with the search results, some relative photos, books and information will be given on the right side of the page. “Our goal is to help people learn things about the world, which will let them act in the world to do great things,” Ben Gomes, distinguished engineer at Google, told FoxNews.com. "We’ve been working on this for the last couple of years. It’s been an incredible amount of effort."
The whole lot is releasing a gamut of add-ons for the convenience of the subscribers. Each of them has their own reasons for the specific add-on. However the surfer is the most important person on the info highway and to lure him back is the task of any web giant. (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
