The trend last month was to offer large discounts on the ticket fares and cheap prices for flying domestically in the nation and this month there is a trend that will put a check to your joy that the spiraling prices are nothing to be happy about. Jet Airways has introduced higher fares for the ticket cancellation apart from hefty fines on the tickets of the lower prices. It is expected that the other airlines will follow suit.

According to the new changes, the lower cost cheap economy tickets will be affected the most. The tickets shall henceforth be non-refundable and the price for cancellation will burn a hole in your pocket. The charges have been adjusted to a class-based penalty system ranging from Rs 200 to Rs 2,000 as opposed to the earlier charges of Rs 1050.

Higher the fare of the ticket lower the cancellation charges. Economy tickets will no longer be refundable. If the ticket is in this category, the fine for cancellation would be Rs 2000. Upper Economy lads have to pay Rs 1000 while the first class customers will enjoy the cancellation of tickets with just Rs 200 to 500 as penalty. However, the fines will vary with the flight and fare. The penalty would be in a fixed range rather than a fixed charge.

Earlier the ticket fares went down starting with Spice Jet with a fare of Rs 2,013, all inclusive and other domestic carriers followed suit. Same trend can be expected in the cancellation charges hike.
