Jet Airways Fined Rs 65,000 For Offering Non-Veg Meal For A Vegetarian:- A passenger named Banuprasad Jani from Rajkot sued Jet Airways for offering him a meat meal. A consumer court in Rajkot directed the airline to pay Rs 65,000 to the passenger for the blunder. Though Banuprasad ordered a vegetarian meal, he was served non-vegetarian food. Banuprasad was a pure janeu-dhari Brahmin and he was left in shock after he tasted meat. He revealed that he never ate even eggs in his life.
Rajkot District Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum asked the airlinees to pay compensation. Mental agony, harassment and legal expenditure have been factored in the compensation. Banuprasad was flying from Chennai to Mumbai on August 20th 2016 when the incident took place. Banuprasad ate some of the meal and vomited, turned sick. He took the pictures and videos of the meal and filed a complaint. He sued the airlines for Rs 7.25 lakhs compensation. Jet Airways revealed that he ordered Asian veg meal initially but he changed his meal later. The court asked Jet Airways to pay Rs 50,000 for unfair trade practice, Rs 10,000 for harassment and Rs 5,000 for legal expenses.
