DSK Benelli has been doing quite well in India, with the Italian manufacturer looking to add more models to its portfolio in the country. As the Tornado 302 is scheduled to launch in December 2016, the launch of the TRK 502 Adventure Tourer has been pushed to 2017.
It will likely launch between January and March 2017 i.e. the first quarter of 2017. The adventure tourer already made its debut at the 2015 EICMA Motorcycle Show, while also making it to the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi, back in February, this year.
The TRK 502 gets somewhere around a four to six month delay in launch, as it was originally scheduled to launch in September 2016. The delay is attributed to the launch of the Tornado 302 in December 2016 and Benelli's expansion plans.
The TRK 502 is a 500 cc offering with a liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine, which will develop 47 bhp of power and 45 Nm of torque, which will be transferred to the wheels via a 6-speed gearbox. It also has high ground clearance of 230 mm and knobby tyres for improved off-road traction.
Suspension duties of the DSK Benelli TRK 502 are handled by the USD front forks and rear monoshock suspension. Braking duties are performed by a dual 320 mm disc brake on the front wheels and single 220 mm disc brake on the rear wheels. It will also get ABS as standard.
Expect the DSK Benelli TRK 502 to price around the Rs. 5 to 5.5 lakh mark (ex-showroom), upon launch next year. The Adventure Tourer will find the Kawasaki Versys 650 as its closest rival.
