The owners could not find out what Eddie has done all those years. The dog was found itself in the care of Jeanette Johnson who lives in Stockport, less than one kilometre from Wright's home, the local media reported.
When Johnson took Eddie to a vet for a medical check up, a microchip was discovered which disclosed its true identity. Eddie was then reunited with the owners.
"They scanned to check if he already had a chip and I was shocked to discover he had been registered missing five years ago," Johnson said.
