Finally, the schedule for fresh elections in New Delhi were made official by the Election Commission shortly. The elections will be held on February 7th and the results will be declared on February 10th. The model code of conduct comes right away. About 1.30 crore people will be casting their vote in 11,000 polling both.
Delhi is a 70 seat Assembly. In the 2013 elections, BJP emerged as the single largest party but fell short of majority to form government in the state. While Aam Aadmi Party which was led by Arvind Kejriwal bagged 27 seats on their debut electoral which was a sensation then. Congress party faced a humiliating defeat but supported AAP in forming government.
Kejriwal led AAP form government in Delhi and ruled the state only for 49 days as they quit the government after Jan Lokpal bill got deferred in Assembly.
