India Confirms Its Second Monkeypox Case:- After the coronavirus scare, the newest fear in the country is monkeypox. A 31-year-old man is tested positive for monkeypox and he recently reached Kannur from Dubai on July 13th. He is admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Kannur. Kerala Health Minister Veena George said that the condition of the patient is stable. All the primary contacts with the person are kept under observation. Kerala reported the first monkeypox case on July 14th and a 35-year-old man who returned back from UAE is tested with monkeypox. A multi-disciplinary team from the Centre was sent to Kerala to take all the precautionary measures.

The government of Kerala kept 14 districts on high alert and help desks are launched in four airports of the state. All the international passengers coming to the state are specially screened. Monkeypox is a viral disease that has symptoms similar to smallpox. As per the reports from the World Health Organization, the symptoms lasts for 2-4 weeks. The fatality rate is said to be 3-6 percent. Monkeypox is transmitted to human beings through the close contact of an animal or a person through respiratory droplets, body fluids and contaminated materials. Fever, headache, backache, muscle ache, exhaustion, chills and rashes are the common symptoms of monkeypox.
