TRS MLA Ramesh Chennamaneni Citizenship Cancelled:- The Indian citizenship of TRS MLA Ramesh Chennamaneni has been cancelled by the Ministry of Home Affairs yesterday. He challenged the order from 2017 and his citizenship got cancelled with the fresh order. Ramesh's citizenship was revoked on the grounds that he held citizenship of Germany. He did not fulfil the norms when he obtained Indian citizenship in 2009. Ramesh Chennamaneni got re-elected from Vemulawada constituency in Telangana last year. Ramesh Chennamaneni said that he would move to Telangana High Court again after the recent move.
Ramesh Chennamaneni argued that MHA did not take the orders of the High Court into consideration. He said that he is quite confident about getting justice. In July this year, the High Court kept the order of MHA aside and directed to hear Ramesh Chennamaneni's fresh submission. There are allegations that Ramesh Chennamaneni submitted fake documents and violated the Representation of People's Act. Under the Act, a person has to reside in India for 365 days (one year) to be eligible for citizenship. Ramesh said that he holds German citizenship fro 1993 but he applied for Indian citizenship in 2009 and was granted.
