Court Asks Nirav Modi To Appear Before Six Weeks:- Jeweler businessman Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehul Choksi have been absconding from the country after a scam of Rs 7000 crores for Punjab National Bank. A special court for Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) today issued notices to Nirav Modi and his uncle to appear before the court within six weeks and revealed the deadline as September 26th. The Enforcement Directorate demanded to confiscate their properties under the new fugitive economic offender law.

If Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi fails to appear before the court within the announced time, they will be declared fugitive offenders and their properties will be confiscated. Enforcement Directorate conducted searches across 260 locations across the country and seized diamonds, gold, platinum, silver and other precious stones along with other properties that belonged to Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi. Several bank accounts and shares controlled by them have been frozen.
